Red Clogs
does anyone remember the story of Red clogs? he fell into the machinery at the brickworks across the marshes from Marsh Green. the only thing left of him was his clogs covered in blood which roamed the marshes at night.

I worked with him. His clogs were the latest fashion, inflatable. He was stood next to me one afternoon doing some machining when suddenly he popped his clogs.

Tale gets mentioned many tiimes Kath. Different variations, but I think the brickworks one is most common. I could be wrong.

Dostaf's second link: Maddy's 2008
I hadn't heard of Red Clogs until reading about it on Wiganworld, Kath.
If you type Red Clogs into the Wiganworld Google Search box, you'll see a number of threads where the story is mentioned: WW Google Search

well i'm impressed with your memory dostaf to find that old link but nice to see that jo anne's expertise has made you blush! i always assumed that red clogs was just a marsh green scary story so it's interesting to see that it is't.

I wasn't meaning to be a clever clogs, Kath. You've made me go red now.

Cheer's Kath.
One thing I didn't want you, or anyone else to think, was that I was having a moan at you for bringing the subject up again.
This sometimes happens with some of the miserable sods on here. Same with moans about old jokes getting repeated.
There's nowt wrong with repeats. That's why folk have bookshelves.
I'll let you in to a little secret.
If you look up at the top of this page, you'll see 'Kathpressey's Wiganworld I Logout'
To the right of that, in the middle of the grey bar, you'll see 'Search'.
If you type stuff in that, eg Red Clogs, you'll see the references to them on WW. Also, there are links there to mentions on 'Forum'.
Have a mooch.

'A little secret' - I'd already mentioned that, Dostaf. Good job I agree - there's nowt wrong with repeats.

I know. That's how I found out about it, Jo Anne.
Previously, I'd been just sticking stuff in the usual searchbox, together with the word 'wiganworld'.

I know you've typed of that approach before, Dostaf - since then I've tried it, too, when the Wiganworld Search box hasn't provided the information I was looking for.

On the other hand, I have just typed 'red clogs ghost' into google (Not WW searchbox).
Seems like it must be a Wigan thing.

But what is this I see?
Mr Roby recounted some of his experiences and showed examples
of two of the safety lamps used at the pit. He told tales of the difficult working conditions
miners had to endure and of “Red Clog” the ghost of Sutton Manor.

Kath, if it's anything to do with Dougie, it'll be a racket, never mind a fix.
Be aware if he recommends 'a nice hotel' in Salou!!
